Odessa Missile Attacks Survival Story: Holding On Through the Chaos

Have you heard about the Odessa missile attacks on January 31st? It was brutal. I'm okay. I always try to stay safe. But in Odessa, safety feels more fragile with each passing day.

The strike hit the city center, shattering windows, sending debris flying, and leaving the streets filled with smoke and fear. I was lucky—I don’t live in the direct impact zone. But for those who do, the past 96 hours have been a whirlwind of recovery, repairs, and the lingering weight of what could have been worse.

The news reported several injuries, but thankfully, no fatalities. It’s a small mercy in a situation where the outcome could have been far grimmer. The attack targeted infrastructure, leaving parts of the city without power. Rescue workers moved quickly, clearing debris and ensuring those affected had shelter. Even now, people are picking up the pieces—boarding up shattered windows, sweeping away the remnants of yet another violent reminder that the war isn’t over.

Despite it all, Odessa stands strong. We carry on, finding ways to move forward, even with the ever-present threat overhead. This city, like its people, refuses to break.
