This morning, I woke up to the sound of explosions—again. The air was cold, the house was dark, and I immediately knew: another attack on Ukraine’s energy sector had hit Odesa. Ukraine's critical infrastructure damage resulting in power outages have become part of our reality here, but that doesn’t make them any easier to bear. Each attack brings new challenges and tests our resilience in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

The missile and drone strikes targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure have left cities like Odesa struggling to function. The power grid is fragile, and these constant attacks are making life more difficult for everyone. It’s not just about losing electricity—it’s about losing heat, communication, and the ability to keep daily life going. The Odesa power outages aren’t just a local issue; they’re a symbol of how the war is affecting everyone in Ukraine.

Critical infrastructure damage is felt in every part of life. Without power, even basic tasks become monumental. Cooking, staying warm, or charging a phone takes planning and effort. Nights are eerily quiet except for the hum of generators, and the darkness feels suffocating. Every attack on Ukraine’s energy sector feels like an attempt to steal our normalcy and force us to live in survival mode.

The winters in Odesa are cold and unforgiving, and without stable power, keeping warm is a daily struggle. These attacks don’t just disrupt our infrastructure—they aim to weaken our spirit. But I refuse to give in. Like so many others here, I adapt and endure. It’s not easy, and the exhaustion is real, but every flicker of light feels like a small victory.

The Odesa power outages and energy sector attacks have shown me how resilient we can be in the face of destruction. I hold onto hope that one day, these relentless attacks will end, and our city can rebuild—not just its infrastructure, but its sense of peace and security. Until then, I’ll keep going, one day at a time.
